HEXCES’ test facility is wholly owned and operated by parent company CES. Kimberlina Power Plant (KPP) is a former 5 MWe biomass power plant, that has been modified and upgraded over the past ten years to support product development and is now the world’s largest pressurized oxy-fuel combustion test facility. The site is laid out for research and development (R&D) and sub-scale and commercial-scale operations and is home to:
- A dedicated heat exchanger test bed
- CES 20 MWt Oxy-Fuel Gas Generator
- SAGD Gas Generator and Steam Separator (G2S2) commercial-scale test bed
- CES 200 MWt Oxy-Fuel Gas Generator
- CES 30MWe OFT-J79 expander turbine
- 150 MWe OFT-900 expander turbine
- A fully operational 100% carbon-capture ready, 5MWe steam turbine cycle for continuous operations producing 1,500 Mscfd CO2
- A full-scale solar and geo-thermal steam reheater test-bed,
